Quality & Authentication
J. B. Fowler has held ISO 9001 certification since 1982, one of the first specialist printers in the sector to achieve it. The certification covers all three service lines and is maintained through annual surveillance audits by an accredited certification body.
Three-Stage Quality Assurance Framework
Pre-Production
Client specification review, material sourcing verification against mill certificates, reference standard calibration, substrate batch testing.
In-Process
Spectrophotometer colour measurement at defined intervals (as pictured above), substrate consistency checks, binding and finishing inspection, real-time deviation logging with defined rejection thresholds.
Post-Production
Final colour verification against reference standard, condition documentation for every unit, chain of custody initialisation, authentication marker verification.
Chain of Custody
Chain of custody is embedded in standard operating procedure and applies to all client materials regardless of sensitivity classification. The chain records what the material is, its origin, who received it and when, where it was stored, who accessed it and for what purpose, and full transfer history. For restricted materials, dual-signatory verification is required at every transfer point.
Authentication Markers
Authentication markers are embedded in every production run. The marker technology is proprietary and disclosed only to institutional clients under non-disclosure agreement. Markers are verified during post-production quality assurance and documented in the production record.
Certifications & Standards
| Certifications | ISO 9001 (since 1982). FSC Certified (all paper substrates). Carbon Neutral (operational emissions offset through verified programmes). |
|---|---|
| Environmental | All waste paper recycled. All chemicals disposed of within environmental regulations. Climate-control systems optimised for energy efficiency without compromising environmental stability. |
| Personnel | Background verification required for all production and archival personnel. Binding non-disclosure agreements signed by all personnel, extending beyond employment term. |
